Like any documentary it has a point of view, but for the most part it draws a clear picture of how industrial food production works in this country. For anyone unfamiliar with agriculture at any scale, it is an eye-opener. It shows how policy allowed a handful of multinational companies to gain near-complete control of the nation's food supply.
What is easy to miss on a first viewing is where the responsibility actually sits. Farmers did not build that processing infrastructure; they have largely been left to follow the regulations and subsidy programs on offer and to sell into the only markets available — a small number of very large buyers.
