A customer update from Vermont Natural Beef
We were interrupted. We were not finished.
Over the past year, Vermont Natural Beef experienced serious disruption to our operations, inventory, processing, customer communications, and fulfillment.
We have rebuilt the operation around direct management control, and Vermont Natural Beef is delivering again.

What happened
Over the past year, Vermont Natural Beef experienced something far more serious than an ordinary production delay.
Our ability to operate was interfered with. Access to operating infrastructure became restricted. Company inventory and other property were removed, transferred, or became unavailable outside current management’s control. Livestock and feed operations were disrupted. Processing and customer fulfillment were interrupted.
Then the disruption reached our customers.
Vermont Natural Beef customer and order records were transmitted outside our normal customer-service process. Customers later received a mass communication telling them that Vermont Natural Beef was “all done,” directing them toward refunds and complaints, and expressly encouraging complaint volume.
Vermont Natural Beef was not “all done.”
But the damage to customer confidence was real.
Customers who had trusted us with deposits did not know whether their orders would be filled. Processing schedules broke down. Deliveries stopped. Some customers cancelled. Others waited far too long for a clear answer.
We understand why people were angry.
There is more to the story
There is considerably more behind these events than we can responsibly publish today.
Several underlying matters remain in active legal proceedings, and there are documents, facts, and individuals we are not presently going to litigate through our website.
There will be a time for the full record. Right now, our job is to deliver beef.
What changed
So we rebuilt the system.
After consultation with counsel, Vermont Natural Beef is moving forward and resuming customer fulfillment and deliveries.
And we are not simply restarting the old operating model.
We rebuilt it.

Cattle under direct management control
Animals are being maintained where current management controls their care, custody, and movement.

Inventory under tighter custody
Finished beef and other inventory are being maintained through locations and systems under current management control, with tighter custody and access procedures intended to prevent unauthorized removal, diversion, or loss.

Direct processor relationships
Processing relationships and processing schedules are being managed directly by current management.

Controlled customer records
Customer records and communications are back under controlled VNB systems.

Capacity-backed ordering
Orders are being accepted against actual cattle and processing capacity rather than an open-ended reservation backlog.

Controlled cold-chain delivery
Initial deliveries are being handled through our own controlled cold-chain capability.

A narrower launch product line
We are beginning with the products we know we can execute well:
- Sides of beef
- Quarters of beef
- 50-pound bulk ground beef

Existing customer deposits remain on account and will be applied to upcoming orders.
